Here's what to expect, from the night before the procedure through your two follow-up visits.
Feed dinner as normal the night before, then skip breakfast. Your cat should have six to eight hours without food before anesthesia. Fresh water is fine until 2 hours before you arrive.
When you arrive, we admit your cat at the scheduled time. The vet performs a nose-to-tail exam, checks the bloodwork, provides pain relief and explains the procedure. You can also bring a familiar blanket or bed.
Your cat goes home with home-care advice, pain relief and, in some cases, antibiotics. Give every medication exactly as its label says.
We check your cat is comfortable and has recovered well from anesthesia.
We check that any extraction sites have healed, look for infection and talk about long-term mouth care.
Two follow-up visits are included in the dental package. You can see the price when you book online or call either clinic.

The first 24 hours are an important part of recovery. Stitches in an extraction site dissolve on their own and do not need to be removed.
If your cat had extractions, soak food in warm water for 10 minutes, or feed canned food for 10–14 days. Not eating, nauseous or vomiting? Offer no more food until the next morning. Still not eating? Call us.
No hard treats or chews until any extraction site has fully healed. Skip toys your cat puts in its mouth too: rubber, plastic, rope or anything similar.
Keep your cat resting for 24 hours: no running, playing or jumping. Normal activity can start again the next afternoon.
Give pain relief, and antibiotics if prescribed, exactly as each label says.

Cats hide discomfort well, so mouth problems are easy to miss. Look out for bad breath, drooling or pawing at the mouth. Other signs are dropping food or chewing on one side, red or swollen gums, yellow-brown build-up on the teeth and less interest in food. If you notice any of these signs, book a dental check so a vet can examine your cat.
Anesthesia always carries some risk, which is why we check every cat first. Your vet does a nose-to-tail exam and checks bloodwork before the procedure, and will answer your questions before it starts.
Feed dinner as normal, then skip breakfast so your cat has an empty stomach. Fresh water is fine until 2 hours before you arrive. If your cat is very slim or young, ask about an early-afternoon slot and a light snack between 6am and 8am.
Once your cat is fully awake, we can offer a small portion of their usual food. If you're collecting your cat later in the day, you can bring some with you. After extractions, soften food in warm water for 10 minutes or feed canned food for 10-14 days.
A breathing tube may have been placed in the windpipe during anesthesia. It can cause mild irritation and a slight cough that usually fades over a few days and needs no treatment. If you are worried, call us.
No. Any stitches in an extraction site dissolve on their own.
Watch for facial swelling, discharge, drooling, pawing at the mouth or bad odor, and call us if you see any. These can be signs of infection and need an urgent examination. If you're concerned about anything else, call us. If your cat still will not eat the morning after the procedure, call us too.
Two follow-up visits are included in the dental package. Both clinics are open every day, 8am to 10pm.
