We go through the coat with you first: where it's matted, what the skin underneath looks like, and what you want at the end. That's also when we'll say if the groom you asked for isn't right for the coat you've got.
Shampoo is chosen based on the coat and skin condition in front of us. It’s worked in properly and rinsed out completely, because leftover product is a common cause of itching a few days later. Ears stay dry throughout, and teeth brushing will also be done as part of the grooming process.
Double coats have to be dried right down to the skin, or the undercoat mats as it dries. It's the slowest part of a big groom, and the difference between a good finish and a fortnight of knots.
De-shedding strips out the dead undercoat that ends up on your floor. De-matting works knots free gently. Hand-stripping pulls dead hair from wire coats such as terriers and schnauzers, keeping the texture and colour that clipping flattens.
Clipping or scissoring to the finish you asked for, nails trimmed back from the tip, ears cleaned if they need it, and a sanitary trim around the rear and paw pads. Paw pad hair matters more than people expect on Dubai flooring.
You'll leave knowing what to brush, how often, which tool suits your dog's coat, and roughly when to come back. Most coat problems are prevented at home between appointments.
A labrador shedding through summer and a matted cockapoo need completely different appointments. Instead of one fixed package, our groomers work from what the coat needs, and will say plainly when less is the right answer.

The things Dubai pet parents ask us most often, before and after their first visit.
It depends on the coat. Short-coated breeds often need little more than a bath and a de-shed every eight to twelve weeks. Double-coated breeds do better with de-shedding every six to eight weeks, particularly through a Dubai summer. Curly and non-shedding coats such as poodles, cockapoos and doodles will mat if left, and generally need a full groom every four to six weeks.
A basic groom is the bath, blow-dry and brush-through, which is the right choice for a short-coated dog who just needs cleaning up. A full groom adds the clip or scissor finish you asked for, plus the detail work: nails, ears, and a sanitary trim. De-shedding, de-matting and hand-stripping all sit within the full groom.
Hand-stripping removes dead hair from wire-coated breeds such as terriers, schnauzers and some spaniels, by pulling it rather than cutting. It keeps the coarse texture and depth of colour that clipping flattens over time. If your dog has a wire coat that's been clipped for years, tell us and we'll talk through whether stripping is worth restarting.
It depends on size, coat type and condition. A de-shed on a labrador and a full groom on a matted doodle are very different appointments. We'd rather see the dog, or hear a frank description, than quote blind. Call either clinic or start a booking and our team will confirm the cost before the appointment.
The grooming is the same skill set. What differs is what happens when something turns up under the coat: a hot spot, a tick, an ear infection, a lump nobody had felt. In a clinic that becomes a vet's opinion the same visit, instead of a phone call telling you to book elsewhere.
Once the vaccination course is complete, which is generally around sixteen weeks. Before that, a room other dogs have used is a risk not worth running. The first appointment is deliberately short and gentle: handling, a bath, a dry, and getting used to the noise. Building that tolerance early makes future grooms easier.
